In a bid to help Subic National High School teachers write more and better papers, the SNHS Research Team launched a writeshop for Master Teachers and selected Teacher IIIs on June 28-39, 2022.
SNHS Principal Bernadette Umayam lauded the effort, saying that she is “looking forward to more research publications in our school and to become one of the schools that is active when it comes to research in our Schools Division.”
As set out in Schools Memorandum 38 s.2022, the writeshop’s main goal was to promote, strengthen and support the culture of Research in Basic Education.
“We conducted this activity to increase the number of research in our school and to foster the culture of research here”, said by Mr. Erwin Angelo Baduria, the School Research Coordinator during his open remarks.
“The activity will help us embrace research as part of our lives as teachers and will let us realize how important it is to conduct research”, he added.
The three-day training comprised discussions about crafting research capsules and proposals based on school needs and gaps, as well as critiquing sections on the participants’ outputs.
“We learned a lot from our speakers, they have shared research updates, and ways to find solutions for our problems through research,” said Miriam Lonzon, Master Teacher I of the English Department.
The program was pursuant to the research management guidelines set out in Schools Division Memorandum 177 s. 2022 to improve the quality of publications in the Division of Zambales.
This is part of a wider push in the Department of Education to improve the capacity of education researchers nationwide in response to concerns over the quality of education in the country.
